Parish Nurses
Parish Nurse Ministry is a caring and healing ministry to promote health and wellness in body, mind, and spirit. Parish Nurses are registered nurses with a current Kansas license who serve the Church with confidentiality and professionalism.
Parish Nurses extend the reach of Reformation by providing a variety of services including health edu-cation, health screening (including blood pressure checks), health counseling, hospital and care home visits, spiritual support, health care referrals, and scheduling Red Cross blood donors at Reformation. Currently, two RNs serve our congregation in this volunteer ministry: Barbara Lee and Jette Mortensen. Please contact the church office if you would like to be in touch with a Parish Nurse or would be interested in serving as a Parish Nurse.

Barbara Lee
After completing her nursing degree in Des Moines, Iowa , Barb worked in OB -- her favorite part of the hospital. When her second baby was due, she became a stay-at-home-mom and spent the next 20 years enjoying her four children. Later on, Barbara worked as a school nurse and also conducted developmental testing of three year-olds.
Health concerns can be difficult, so help and support is appreciated. It has been a privilege and a blessing to serve.Barbara Lee

Jette Mortensen
Born and raised in Copenhagen, Denmark, Jette graduated from nursing school at the University of Copenhagen and worked in acute care for several years in Denmark. After immigrating to the USA in 1972, she worked in acute care and geriatrics in California. Jette has been instrumental in starting parish nurse programs at First Lutheran Church in Redlands, CA, and Reformation Lutheran Church.
Parish Nursing is the best kind of nursing I have ever been involved with. It enables specific care and service for the whole person in body, mind and spirit.Jette Mortensen
Stephen Ministers
A Stephen Minister is a caring lay person who gives one-to-one Christian care to persons facing stressful life changes. This caring Christian friend offers a listening ear to hear problems and concerns, and brings emotional and spiritual support and encouragement to help work through these problems.
Stephen Ministers are prepared for their caring ministry with 50 hours of training and are commissioned by the Pastor.
Since 1995, Reformation has trained and supported 38 Stephen Ministers who have offered this caring ministry to over 75 individuals.
