Sunday, March 16 Luke 12:7

Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don`t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

WE ARE ALWAYS IN GOD`S PLANS

Sparrows in biblical times were sold for pennies. Hebrew people in those times generally considered sparrows unimportant because they were very common and the food for the poor.

In this passage, Luke is saying God doesn`t forget the sparrows so there is no possibility of him forgetting us, even the smallest detail about us. We each have thousands of hairs on our heads and God knows about them all. God does not forget us. It`s not surprising though that when we look at the world we may feel forgotten. We can feel lost in a world of billions of people. We can feel small. We can feel we aren`t making a difference and our life is meaningless.

God sees things differently. God has plans and purposes for us. He thought we were so special that he sent his own Son to redeem us. The reason Jesus tells us that God doesn`t forget us is so that we won`t be afraid. The world can be a scary place without the knowledge that a good God loves us and acts for our benefit.

God supplies us with the grace to cope no matter what is going on in our lives. We have no reason to be afraid because we are worth more than many sparrows and God doesn`t forget us.

Almighty God, thank you for keeping all of creation in mind: from the mightiest beings to smallest of the world. We are always in your plans and in your love. Amen
