PASS ON YOUR BLESSINGS
From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be
required; and from the one to whom much has been entrusted, even
more will be demanded.
This passage talks about
gifts, resources and talents given to us by God. It appears that
the more gifts we have, the harder we must work to make use of
them. I always wish the Bible would be more specific. For
example, it is necessary to know what is considered to be a
gift, a resource, a talent.
A few years back, a group of us spent quite a bit of time
discussing and searching for our gifts and talents. We learned
that everyone has them; some people have more than others; and
some use them to a greater degree.
At this age, I finally have found some of my gifts and learned
to use them to make the world a better place, feeling that this
is a requirement as the scripture indicates. At the risk of
sounding egotistical, I would say that my gift of working with
young people has enabled me to help some find their way through
the maze of life. My organizational gift has made it possible
for me to coordinate various programs for young people to enrich
their lives.
Just when I begin to think I need more money, I look around and
realize how very blessed I am, comparatively speaking, within
the community and the world. So it becomes necessary to give -
whether to the Angel Tree, the beggar on the street, the
Guatemalan orphanage or the YMCA.
So it appears that if we have been given a lot, we shall be
required to do much. I think asking God to help figure out how
to do that is a good idea.
Heavenly Father, please
help us find our gifts and use them for the good of your
children. Amen.
