BE TRANSFORMED
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the
renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will
of God- what is is good and acceptable and perfect.
Seminary classes and
professors have challenged me to transform my mind. I have been
stretched to think differently about scripture, life and my
relationship with God. So, when I hear "be transformed by the
renewing of your minds," I am reminded of the transformation in
my own life.
These words from Paul's letter to Rome also make me take warning
to stop being conformed to the world. It is a paradigm shift to
renew our minds with our focus on God. We can read this every
day. We can center our lives on God and remember these words
from the apostle Paul in our hearts.
Each one of us is called by our baptism to live, work and play
in faith every day. Bringing faith into our daily lives and
transforming our minds, we take our place in the world as
members of the body of Christ.
In this season of Lent, as we reflect upon our lives, we
remember the small crosses of ash that were placed on our
foreheads and we are reminded of the love that is marked in our
hearts - the love of Christ that transforms our minds, our
bodies and our spirits. Christ's love is with us right now, in a
minute from now, and always. We are transformed by this love.
Gracious God, be with us
this day. Let us transform our minds to know your love. We give
you thanks for your presence and we ask you to be with us, guide
us and heal us. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
